I am a clinical and sport psychologist with a Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D) from Rutgers University's Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, with concentrations in Sport and Community Psychology; a Master of Education (M.Ed.)degree in Athletic Counseling from Springfield College; and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Psychology from Rutgers University. I am licensed in the states of New York (License #021416) and Arizona (License # PSY-005053).
My background, training, and services make me an applied psychologist--research is not my main focus. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, but also mindfulness meditation, performance enhancement techniques, program planning and evaluation, academic coaching, Motivational Interviewing, and emotion regulation strategies. My work is based off of empirically-based interventions, i.e. research has thoroughly shown that it works.
I am currently the Sport Psychologist for the Phoenix Suns and Arizona State University, and I also provide performance psychology consultation services for athletes at all levels. This website is my own, and not affiliated with these two organizations.
I work with club, high school, college, and professional athletes and performers. My clients range from late adolescents to retirees--all receiving their own unique and individualized treatment and skill enhancement approaches. I have also taught as an adjunct at Montclair State University and taught classes at Springfield College.
My personal background includes experience as a gymnast for 13 years-- competing as a Division I athlete and also coaching and judging gymnastics. I grew up in Georgia and went to Rutgers as a recruit to compete on the gymnastics team. I started all four years of college, and my specialty was vaulting.
I currently enjoy activities like ballet, hiking, yoga, cycling, and anything that allows me to experience athletic movement. Physical activity and involvement in the world around me is something I love.
In my work, I approach my clients in a way that facilitates collaboration. I provide support and skills for helping increase life enjoyment, performance, and satisfaction. I utilize integration of clinical and performance psychology to address the needs of individuals pursuing health and being their best. It is my pleasure to be able to do the work I do, and to provide much needed skills to the populations with whom I love working.
